Mate selection is animportant psychological, cultural social phenomenon, which ambivalent sexism has positively influenceduring toward. This thesis introduced and gave comments on the concept and measure of ambivalent sexism and its influence to mate and marriage gender-role ideologies.Glick & Fiske's Ambivalent Sexism Scale and self edited Power Related Gender Role Ideology on Dating and Marriage Questionnaire, explored the correlation of ambivalent sexism and power related gender role ideology on dating and marriage. The result indicated that there is significant relationship between hostile and benevolent sexism with gender role ideology on dating and marriage,supporting the conclusion that .Our first conclusion was that BS would positively relate to female submissive characteristics, such as being traditional and considerate, on men's mate selection criteria, while that BM would negative predict to female submissive characteristics.Our second conclusion was that BS would positively relate to to traditional male dominant characteristics such as ability to provide, in mate selection criteria, while that BM would negative relate to traditional male dominant characteristics such as ability to provide, in mate selection criteria.Our third conclusion was that HS would positively relate to men traditional imbalanced gender-role norms in marriage. Consistent with this conclusion, BS men were concerned with marriage norms specifying women's roles as nurturing, assisting, and upholding male authority, while avoiding male shame.Our fourth conclusion specified that BM would positively relate to women's marriage norms, while that HM would negative predict to women's marriage norms.
