Learner's dictionary,as an important tool for second language acquisition,is aimed at helping second language learners get access to as much as possible correlative lexical knowledge.However,traditional learner's dictionaries fractured the semantic relations between words existing in natural language.The introduction of lexicographical mediostructure is to reestablish such semantic relations in learner's dictionary so as to accord with the cognitive law and the acquisition mechanism of second language vocabulary.Since lexicographieal mediostructure is indispensable, how to represent in learner's dictionary the semantic relational network of lexicographical mediostructure becomes significant.Definition is the core of dictionary compilation.All components of a dictionary directly or indirectly serve lexical definition and the construction of lexicographieal mediostructure obviously is to improve definition.All factors of lexical meaning are connected into a semantic network.Thus the definition from any single perspective is not full.However,traditional learner's dictionary described those meaning factors separately and thus fractured their relations.Multidimensional definition theory held that meaning is multilayered and multidimensional and thus proposed active definition from multidimensional perspectives,multidimensional facets,and all round way.This theory enlightens significantly the construction of lexicographical mediostructure.This thesis,based on the theory of multidimensional definition,mainly explored how to represent in learner's dictionary the semantic relational network of lexicographical mediostructure.By compiling the sample entries,this thesis tried to represent the thirteen relations of lexicographical mediostructure distributed in the morphological,conceptual,syntactical,pragmatic representation modules and provided the representation pattern of lexicographical mediostructure based on multidimensional definition theory.And this thesis also theoretically justified that lexicographical mediostructure based on multidimensional definition theory has a positive correlation with L2 vocabulary enlargement,the long-term retention of L2 vocabulary,and the proper use of vocabulary in L2 production.This thesis developed the representation pattern of the semantic relational network of lexicographical mediostructure and represented in detail such relational network in learner's dictionary on the basis of multidimensional definition theory. This study provided the referential pattern for the representation of lexicographical mediostructure in dictionary compilation and also brought enlightenment to the second language vocabulary acquisition research.
