Cathay, written by Ezra Pound, the founder and the early leader of American modern poetry, was published in April 1915.As soon as this big work came out,it received good praise and became the English translation edition that has influential effect in the western world, which played an invaluable role in the propagation of Chinese culture in the western countries and promoted the development of American poetry movement.Based on little basic Chinese knowledge,Pound conducts magic translation and re-creation.The most important thing is that he masters vector and symbol of life-"Image", which makes him have a heart "dialogue" with Chinese poet and have a strong resonance. The imagist founded by Ezra Pound has a lot of similarities with classical Chinese poem. Therefore,Pound attaches great importance to the function of "image" and direct performance of image in the process of translation. He translates every poem sentence, reflects emotion of poet from specific thing and let image take on fully. Therefore,we should start from translation study and impact study to the text of Cathay itself and transcend national boundaries, culture, dimension of personal thought and experience deeply the core of this aesthetic --- "Images." Study from literary aesthetics and the aesthetic aspects of poetry to wake up people's aesthetic awareness, show original classic and explore the role and its unique culture connotation of image in the human aesthetic.
