While accepting Christianity and combining with the heritage of African tradition religion, the black slaves have developed a particular Christianity culture under slavery. Slaves'abundance and creation of spiritual life not only endows their hope of freedom but also is a spark in American blacks'history. After the civil war, American blacks get the real rights of religion at first, the number of black Christians has increased greatly, the black churches and special black Christianity belief have developed hugely which have an important effect upon politics, economics, culture and society of American blacks.The whole article is composed of three parts.The first part mainly represents black slaves'Christianity in antebellum America south, including the context, development, ways and other religious activities of black slaves'Christianization. I think the Christianization of the black slaves in antebellum American south shows a rising trend increasingly. Though slaveholders in American south take a lot of measures to constrain and persecute slaves'religious life, Slaves create a spiritual world in their own ways.The second part mainly gives a description of freedmen's Christianity after the civil war in the south of America. This passage would in brief discuss the relationship between Christianity and slavery and the role of Christianity in American blacks'history. Slaves'religion life in antebellum south has a development freely after the civil war, black Christian belief every here and there contains racialism and revolted meanings.
