A Study Of The Association Of Warm/Cool Color And Introversion/Extroversion Personality By Implicit Method

Color is not only concerned with our vision, and it also has impact on people's emotion and action. It is called color effect which will influence our psychology activities. It has been discovered by psychologists that people will increase pulse and blood pressure and be excited when they watch warm color, but if they see cool color, they will feel quiet and slower their pulse. Ordinary people's taste is: red means passion, while blue means quiet. In the research of introversion and extroversion, Eysenck think extroversion tend to be hotheaded, while introversion tend to be quiet.The research is divided into two parts. The fist one is the evaluation of 16pf, which separate introversion and extroversion. The second one concludes IAT assessment of warm/cool color and introversion/extroversion words, which is to prove the flowing hypothesis:1 whether warm/cool color is related to introversion/extroversion. 2whether individuals are of subconscious taste of warm/cool color.3whether individuals have self-identity of their character of introversion/extroversion.1 .Significant difference exists between the IAT score of implicit connection of warm/cool color and introversion/extroversion. We found that warm color implies extroversion while cool color implies introversion.2. Significant difference exists between the IAT score between implicit of warm/cool color identity and 0. We also find a positive implicit identity that individuals prefer warm color to cool color. There is no correlation in gender and 16pf high/low score.3. Significant difference exists between the IAT score between implicit of warm/cool self personality identity and 0,which is unexpected. There is no correlation in gender and 16pf high/low score.4. No correlation is found between IAT1 and IAT2 scores. Positive correlation is found between IATI and IAT3, and IAT2 and IAT3. Because IAT1 and IAT2 have warm/cool color picture in common, but have different words(one is introversion/extroversion words, the other is self/other words.) That means color pictures and word items have different impact on IAT.
