When reading poems, we always want to find out why the poet writes such a poem. We want to know his ideas, his interests and all about him. There are differences and similarities between poets, no matter when and where they are. Studying them from different aspects is necessary. This paper is to study the rhetoric effects of Li Bai and Wordsworth's natural poems.Li Bai is one of the greatest poets in Chinese history, and has been regarded as cultural leader of China's poetry. He has deep footprints in Chinese poetry history. He wants to express his ideal of going beyond reality and pursuing freedom when chanting the free life and scenes of the immortal. Li Bai has a strong "society accession" thinking, but doesn't want to be toed up by the secular world. The frustration in politics makes him love nature, far away from political struggles, and write a lot of magnificent natural poems. Wordsworth is named Poet Laureate. He loves nature and anchors his hope on the past after the failure of the French Revolution. Both the two poets write natural poems, but in different ways. Though there are similarities between their use of language, the differences in style are obvious. The researches of them respectively are varied and rich, but the comparison of them is seldom to see. Because of this and standing on others' shoulders, this paper comes into being. This research aims to strike out in rhetoric aspect to reveal the similarities and differences between Li Bai and Wordsworth. Through the overview of the researches of the two poets' poems in all ages, we can know the status and impact of them in world Parnassus. The detailed description of the development of natural poems will let the readers analyze the characteristics of their poems in a bigger circumstance with wide horizon. Though the theory used in this paper is about Chinese poetry, the writer hopes to use it in foreign poems too. In the core part, the analysis of rhetoric specialties proceeds in word, sentence, text, figures of speech and style aspects. In expressing the artistic characteristics of their poems, rhetoric plays an important part. Through the research of the esthetic effects of their natural poems, both similarities and differences are found between Li Bai and Wordsworth's poems. They both love nature and use natural and simple language to write. They hope to find a peaceful place in nature for them to live in. But in literature writing, Li Bai loves using impassioned words to describe magnificent sceneries, while Wordsworth is good at describing common things in daily life with ordinary languages. These are caused by their similar interests and distinct experiences, and cultural background.Through these studies, I hope that the comparative study of Chinese poetry will be broader and broader, not only involving similar poets and similar poetry, but also identifying the similarities in different types of works. At the same time, I wish this article might bring a new phase to the comparison of Chinese-Western poetry.
