Greeting is a ceremonial speech act,It was frequently used in our day-to-day communication.Its language forms are known as "greeting words"."Greeting words" is the ceremonial language which contents of tribute and wish.It is often used in the end of correspondences to express the respect and wishes for the recipient,such as "ci zhi jing li", "zhu hao","jing song da an","zhu ni shen ti jian kang","zhu ni xue xi jin bu" and so on.In consequence,from the linguistic point of view,the article that study greeting words in private correspondences is extremely rare.This thesis use the perspective of sociolinguistics,make analysis by both quantitative and qualitative ways.Do a more comprehensive and in-depth analysis to greeting words of private correspondences in the last century(1919-2009).This thesis first makes interpretation and defines to the concepts like private correspondences, greeting,greeting words,and greeting words at the end of correspondences.On the basis of it, this thesis studies the type,feature,and linguistic characters of greeting words in the end of private correspondences at the last century.Second,this thesis focuses on the social factors that restrict the use of greeting words in private correspondences.Finally,the thesis analyses the cultural meaning and social function of the greeting words in private correspondences.
