On Modernity Of New Democratic Culture And Inheritance Of Its Humanistic Thought

The New Democratic Culture,upon which Chairman Mao once made considerably fixed comment on On New Democracy,was formed in the New Democratic Revolution period.The New Democratic Culture is the culture of the masses against Imperialism and Feudalism leaded by the Proletariats,the ideological reflection of polity and economy in New Democratic society.In addition,its three major features are Nationalism,Science and Popularity.In terms of the modernity,it mainly covers three significances.Firstly,the characteristics of modern society and the recognition of its nature;Secondly,the analysis and judgment on process of modernization,as well as its goal and outcome;Thirdly,the philosophy and attitude towards modern society,and criticism is the main embodiment.Based on the three meanings as I mentioned above,I anticipate to describe the modernity of New Democratic Culture specifically through analyzing some new democratic macro-fields like guiding ideology,self-positioning and cultural vision,as well as some specific content facets,such as innovation spirits and modern nationality concept.Later,the orientation of modernity would be naturally refined under successive analysis.The basic idea of Marxism is the guiding thought and important theoretical source of New Democratic Culture.And nowadays,humanistic thoughts refers to the basic development views of human beings.By the way,Marx also once put forward a lot of judgments about the development of human beings in some of his famous works,which directly contributed to the formation of humanistic thought.For instance,Marx once said,"Communism is one in a comprehensive manner,that is, as a complete person,to possess comprehensive nature of their own,"in Economic and Philosophical Manuscripts of 1844,Meanwhile,he further pointed out, "Freedom activity to communists,this is...a comprehensive...creative living embodiment by free development."in Garman Ideology.The Communist Manifesto summarized the development of human beings as that freedom development of everyone was the foundation of the freedom development of all people.And Das Kapital deemed that the basic principle of communism was all people's comprehensive but freedom development.Consequently,as the cultural theory of new democratic society,the new democratic culture burdens the tasks to construct our spiritual civilization,improve the quality of the public and meet the increasing and higher needs of culture.Compared with the economic construction,culture construction is more directly related to the concept of comprehensive development of human beings.So it is inevitably to ensure that the comprehensive freedom development of all human beings is the modern orientation of new democratic culture.From this perspective,we can get this conclusion that the modernity of new democratic culture,to some extent,inherits the humanism from Marxism,and both of them will achieve consistency upon the ultimate orientation.In fact,the thought of cultural construction in our socialist society comes down in one continuous line with the new democratic culture.For example,in 1950s,our Chinese government put forward a double-hundred policy---"a hundred flowers blossom and a hundred schools of thought contend" and"four haves" constructive goal in 1980s to encourage people to have high ideal,moral integrity,a good education and a strong sense of discipline.And we also submitted the concept of harmonious society in the new millennium.From those policies,we can figure out the idea that our nation's thought of culture construction was based on the new democratic culture,so as to create a more democratic and harmonious culture atmosphere and show more respect to personality of the public at the same time, especially in the first several decades after the foundation of the People's Republic of China.After all,promoting the comprehensive freedom development of all people is still the main goal.In contrast with the economy and polity construction,culture construction seems to lie in a higher lever.And in the meantime,there are three distinguished features of culture construction---inheritance of traditional essence,blend of different culture essence,a certain degree of lag.And the new democratic culture whose guiding thought is Marxism is the excellent reflection of the three features above because it not only inherits the essence of traditional culture but blend both of two different thoughts successfully.All in all,the three features are rather concentrated reflected by the modernity and orientation of the new democratic culture.The focus of my thesis is on describing the consistency between the humanistic thought and orientation of new democratic culture,relying on the humanistic thought of Marxism.And the most important and final conclusion is that the comprehensive freedom development of human beings is our value direction and ultimate goal we ought to and must pursuit during the process of socialist culture construction.
