Background:Self-efficacy was put forward by Albert Bandura in 1977,General self-efficacy refers to a global confidence in one's coping ability across a wide range of demanding or novel situations. As a generalized self-efficacy belief, it can predict individual activities under various situations. So far, researches have concentrated more on some special fields than on general self-efficacy. And the group counseling of enhancing general self-efficacy of the university students was few. Therefore a study on the relationship between general self-efficacy and social anxiety of the university students and draw up group counseling about enhancing general self-efficacy is not only helpful for enriching the theoretical study on general self-efficacy,but also of great practical significance in practice to improve social anxiety of the university students.Objective:To learn general self-efficacy and social anxiety conditions of medical university freshmen,To explore the relationship between general self-efficacy and social anxiety. And draw up group counseling of enhancing general self-efficacy of the university students.Methods:1.Investigation: Six hundred and twelve (612) freshmen of Shanxi Medical University participated in the study. By using GSES and SAI, the general self-efficacy and social anxiety of 612 the college students were tested. To investigate the current situation of the general self-efficacy and social anxiety of the college students.2.Intervention: 60 freshmen recruited from 612 freshmen attended investigate were randomly divided into two groups. 30 of them received 6 times group psychology counseling of arising general self-efficacy,the other 30 were designed as control group. The concrete intervention contents included four factors of influence general self-efficacy.3.Assessment of intervention effect: After intervention, the General Self-efficacy and Social Anxiety of all the subjects was tested again with those psychological scales as same as before intervention, and with the subjective scale compiled by ourselves,The intervention effect was evaluated by comparing the scores between the intervention group and the control group.Results:1.Cross-sectional investigation:1.1 The General Self-efficacy of medical university freshmen(male 2.55±0.53,female 2.44±0.53)was lower than the average level(male 2.69±0.57,female 2.55±0.53)of the national students; The sex differences exist in general self-efficacy. The male university students are with higher general self-efficacy than female; There were statistical significant difference of general self-efficacy in the only child or not in the family and students manage or not, the only child and students manage are with higher general self-efficacy than none-only child and none-students manage; There does not exist significant difference among regions, family structures, national minority or not.1.2 The Social Anxiety of medical university freshmen(TA 24.38±6.82,SIS 17.34±4.98,SIC 15.03±4.12,SAI 56.75±12.90)was lower than the average level(TA 25.03±6.94, SIS 19.77±4.72, SIC 16.62±4.45, SAI 58.32±11.89)of the national students; The sex differences exist in social anxiety, The male university students are with higher social anxiety than female; There were statistical significant difference of social anxiety in regions, the only child or not in the family and students manage or not; come form the countryside, the only child and students manage are with higher social anxiety than form the city, none-only child, none-students manage. There does not exist significant difference among family structures,national minority or not.1.3 There were significant negative correlation between general self-efficacy and social anxiety of the university Students.2. Assess of intervention effect:2.1 After the intervention, the scores of self-efficacy in the intervention group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.001).2.2 After the intervention, the scores of SAI, TA, SIC in the intervention group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).2.3 After the intervention, the scores of SAD, social avoidance and social distress in the intervention group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:The General Self-efficacy is a very important factor on Social Anxiety and psychological health of the university students.Cross-sectional investigation: The General Self-efficacy of medical university freshmen was lower than the average level of the national students. This Group Counseling about enhancing General Self-efficacy of the university students adopt cluster sampling method at deciding objects, and the style combining game with theories, discuss, lesson after feedback in intervention contents, in order to enhance the practicality and the generalization.The result of the intervention: After the intervention, the university students'general self-efficacy level was enhanced, the university students'social anxiety level was improved.
