The Old Man and the Sea was published in 1952 and then produced instant sensation. It was translated and released in dozens of languages all over the world and received high praise from the western critics and the reader. After the 1950s, criticism used to become the mainstream for researchers. According to the statistics, document research of The Old Man and the Sea insufficiently accounted for 1/4 of the study on The sun also rises throughout the 1980s. From the 1990s to now, besides Hemingway symposium's devotion to the 40-year criticism of American modern language association and Stoltzfus Ben's paper dissertation ,the American scholar rarely writes the essay on The Old Man and the Sea.The Old Man and the Sea has been introduced to china for more than 50 years. From the scattered reception to the academic exchanges which heat up gradually, the research expands from single perspective to multi-perspectives and deep level. Different groups in china are based on the culture to accept and choose The Old Man and the Sea with Chinese characteristic.
