A Resounding Elegy Of Feminism

The novel Romance of Fate of Couple to Awaken Men, taking the lovers'reprisal between their two generations as a clue, portrayed various feminine images. The author attempted to objectively reveal the increasingly fierce tradition-violating relations of male being respected and female being inferior through the description of the social family and human relations, specially the description of maltreating husband by Xue Sujie, Tong Jijie and so on. The author also attempted to investigate the origins that lie behind it and hoped to expostulate the female to re-enter good wife and loving mother's traditional localization.However, influenced by the feudal male power thought and prejudice towards the feminine behaviors of Xue Sujie and so on, the author not only intended to exaggerate and to smear the rebel feminine image, but was also unable to find the real root of those feminine rebellious conducts. But through the author's conscious or unconscious description, we still profoundly find the glories of feminine pioneers such as Xue Sujie and have a full understanding of the masculine words construction foundation which was not given a full cognition as well as role of certain age.This thesis consists of three parts. First of all, it is a literature review of studies concerning Romance of Fate of Couple to Awaken Men by which the author combed the related comments collected, made clear the gains and losses and pointed out that the predecessors had referred to but lacked the deep level analysis regarding feminist features, thus to a certain extent the proper research level has not been achieved; In the second part, this article utilizes the modern feminist approach, from the requirements of Chinese traditional culture, the nationality mental structure, through integrated application of knowledge in sociology, ethics and psychology, etc., taking the description of the family ethics relations as"the masculine and feminine elements inverts, disobeys the human sentiment"and its origin as the breakthrough point, the author discussed once more about the so-called rebel feminine image, the family marriage phenomenon of male being respected and female being inferior with Xue Sujie being the representative. The author attempts to unearth many kinds of cultural reason that shape the feminine rebel personality and the tragedy destiny and definitely affirmed the idealism value of Xue Sujie's resisting the male power society as well as cognitive significance of the tragedy; Finally, the thesis further analyzed the social and Age reasons that shape the work, the insufficient feminism theory and masculine writer's speech influencing the work's significance and so on.The present paper aims to affirm that Xue Sujie's rational resistance towards the male power and its new age significance and continues to remind the females of their existence to the male power society. The author hopes that the thesis will shed some light on contemporary females in thinking about marriage, family, life, etc.
