Historical And Cultural Carrier Of Bao Ji

With the development of urbanization,changes in cities take place rapidly in recent years and urban sculpture,the carrier of modern urban culture,plays more and more important roles in presenting the unique characteristics of cities.Baoji,a developing star city,there is much to be desired in systematically designing and construction of urban sculpture.This thesis explains the core connotation of the urban sculpture according to the evaluation on Baoji City's long history,and based on which explores the research on the necessity,rationality and the feasibility of perfection the urban sculpture in Baoji City.Baoji is the important cradle of the Chinese civilization,and has a long history and splendid culture,and the thesis first argues the status quo of the study on urban sculpture in our country in the light of background of the research,and elaborates the objectives and significance of this research.Then,it reviews and collates the long history and profound culture of Baoji City,presenting the development process of ancient and brilliant civilization in Baoji City,and expounds the definition and design principles of urban sculpture theoretically.Meanwhile,the author points out the importance and necessity of perfecting the urban sculptures in Baoji in the light of history and culture based on the survey of existing urban sculptures in Baoji City,so as to orient the internal core of urban sculpture in Baoji towards expressing the ancient civilization of China.At the end of thesis,it explores and constructs the planning and design in detail of urban sculpture in Baoji.Four most symbolic civilization periods in the history of Baoji are selected and described in this chapter,including Beishouling site of Yangshao Culture in Neolithic Age,Yang Di's hometown and Jiang yang Culture,the cradle of Qi and Zhou Culture as well as Qin Culture which is famous for the inscriptions on the drum-shaped stone blocks.The background and unique roles of these four civilizations in China's history are discussed in detail in this thesis.Besides,taking handing upon Chinese culture as the core,the concept and approaches of designing and planning the urban sculptures in Baoji are explored with the practical cases in this chapter. Furthermore,it proposes the specific planning from different aspects,such as system construction,content selection,location planning,the size and materials of the sculpture and so on,so as to definite the uniqueness and significance of the cultural connotation of Baoji through urban sculpture,show off the old tradition and new characters,shape the unique image and temperament of Baoji City,and break new ground for the future.
