The life and writings of Marguerite Duras are deeply marked by her constant vitality and creativity and her questioning about the human existence. In this paper we try to analyze,by the point of view of the existential philosophy, four of her novels: The Sea Wall,The Vice-Consul,The Ravishing of Lol Stein and The Lover. At first,we would like to make clear the links between Duras and the Existentialism, that has largely influenced the thoughts and writings of the intellectuals of France and many others countries since 1940s.By our examination of her personal experiences, her reading, her social activities and her social contacts,we try to be sure of the impact of Nietzsche,Sartre,Camus and Simone de Beauvoir to the mind of Duras. Then,we choose four of her novels to analyze the sentiments as the anxiety, the madness, the waiting in vain and the absurdity, that are felt in nearly all of her works. In the face of "Being-to-the-death",she purposes the "love" to rescue us from the absurd world. The aim of our study is not to classify Duras in a certain school as the Existentialism, but to provide a new point of view to understand Duras' works.
