Tiger Dance represents the relic of Luoluo Minority's tiger worship and ritual dance of their ancestry worship. Totem belongs to the nature worship, while ancestry worship comes from ghost worship. These two kinds of worship are interacted and involved closely. The tiger dance is an ancient dance in the Xiaomaidichong village, Fapiao town, Shuangbai County, CHuxiong Yu People's Municipality, Yunnan province. It is a special case study for ancestry's worship and totem. The Luoluo people convincingly believe that the tiger created the Universe, the World and everything, and undoubtedly considered themselves as the offspring of it. With appreciation and awe, they hold every year the ceremony of tiger dance from 8th to 15th day of February according to the Chinese lunar calendar, which embodies Luoluo people's industry and wisdom, covers their daily work and life, and contains the tradition of self-entertainment.The dissertation contains three main parts: the introduction, the four chapters and the conclusion. In the introduction, we will explain the practical meaning of this research, as well as literature review and the research methodology. The first chapter offers the living room of the tiger dance from the perspective of nature and humanity. In the second chapter, detailed information of the tiger dance in the Xiaomaidichong village will be described according to my field work. Chapter three is based on chapter two, the form and the character of the dance would be studied. Chapter four will set forth the cultural meaning and function the dance implied. In the conclusion, we will summarize and illustrate the status quo and the development of it, and tentatively propose some individual understanding, which would otherwise prove to be premature and can only be viewed as something half-done for further study.
