As an essential part of the culture of modern society, screen translation is the basic way for non-native viewers to be able to enjoy films. The conflict between the big foreign film market and the awkward screen translations makes it argent that people should pay attention to screen translation. Scripts play role in providing information in films. The quality of translations directly affects the value of the film translated. Script translation is essentially the basis of screen translation. There is no doubt about the importance of script translation to translated films.Research on screen translation began in the western countries, and the most active researchers are from western countries as well, especially European researchers. Apart from a few experienced experts, screen translation research in China is done by foreign researchers focusing on text types, functionality of languages, translation theory. Different from literature translation, screen translation should be regarded as being focusing on loyally showing the inner value of films rather than a form of art recreation. This thesis aims to illustrate how script translation works in maximizing the delivery of information in the movie. We use "Gone with the Wind" as the example and we examine the film with screen translation aspects, such as the information delivery rate, any loss of information, reasons of information lose.
