As an important idea of Chinese literature(criticism),Zhiyin has twofold connotations:reading and ideal reader. In the usual sense, zhiyin emphasizes on the latter one that is the sympathetic response a reader has for a author. How to become a zhiyin(an ideal reader) is always the core of reading in China, take poem-reading as an example, reading is embodied as intertextual reading, which can be classified as zhiren lunshi(knowing the author by understanding the period in which one lives) reading and xingxiang(associating of images by xing)reading, focusing on the knowledge of the author's life story and experience and cultural association promoted by poem images to find the identity of the author in the intertextual world.Liuxie's Zhiyin invents a new path to zhiyin orienting readers' interests to the textual interpretation of style and image.Through zhiren lunshi(knowing the author by understanding the age in which one lives) reading and xingxiang(associating of images by xing) reading,a reader would achieve the dream of becoming a zhiyin of a poet, reestablish the aesthetic and cultural connotation of zhiyin, and build a natural relation between tradition and present.
