Research On Sun Yu Wen

Sun Yuwen was an important figure of Late Qing Dynasty. During Xianfeng,Tongzhi,Guangxu three dynasties,he spent most of his time on political life. And he played an important role in political stage in Guangxu dynasty. As a grand minister of state and the Prime Minister yamen States , he had undergone a number of major events of the late Qing Dynasty.Through research, we can understand the political situation in the late Ch'ing Dynasty,the complex relationship among high-level figures as well as international relations between the late Qing government and the Western powers.This paper can be divided into three parts:the Preface, the Text,and the Comment.In the preface,brief introduction to Sun yuwen is first listed,then study on general situation on Sun Yuwen is summarized,finally the purposes and meanings of study on Sun Yuwen is stated. The text is four parts.The fist part describes brifely Sun Yuwen's family background. The second part describes Sun Yuwen's political line. The third part describes Sun Yuwen being active at political stage. The fourth part makes the brief appraisal to Sun Yuwen.For such a figure, I have access to the records of the Qing Dynasty historical figure's biography and found information on him very inadequate .And it is very difficult to find systematic writings and papers about Sun Yuwen.So I hope that I can generally understand the political life about Sun Yuwen through writing of this thesis. In addition,I try to make an objective assessment on all his life.In this paper, I mostly used the traditional method of historiography. In the possession of the relevant historical materials and papers and in close connection with the historical background ,I try to reveal the political factions division and the international environment through discussing the figure,Sun Yuwen.
