Research On Construction Method And Application Of Domain Ontology Based On Relational Analysis And Clustering

Ontology originated in philosophy. Aristotle defined "Ontology" as the science about "being" in the world. Since 1990s, ontology has been introduced in Artificial Intelligence, Knowledge Engineering and Library & Information sciences, becomes the base of scientific research and plays an important role in the thought, information spread, organization and searches.Ontology is a kind of knowledge organization methods to describe the concepts and their relationships. Since proposed, it has attracted many researchers in the world to focus on this field and has been applied widely in many fields of computer science. Ontology construction method, as a base work in the ontology application research field has also attracted many researchers. At present, there is no mature and unified methodology to instruct the work of the ontology construction. Establishing the relative integrated domain ontology not only needs to catch the massive concepts, but also must deal with semantic conflict and ambiguity of these domain concepts. This causes the work of constructing ontology to become both dull and difficult work and become the bottleneck of gaining knowledge. Furthermore, the available ontology construction environment can meet the need in the construction now, but domain experts have to make huge efforts for constructing them through finding domain concepts and their relationships by hand. So the application based on ontology can hardly been used widely.The ontological theories and methods have been described systematically on the basis of intensive investigation of large number of documents and web pages on ontology studying in this paper. The origin, connotation, type and application have been described. The state, principles, methods and tools of ontology construction has been introduced. The existing problems of constructing ontology have been analyzed. In order to solve these problems, the text oriented knowledge discovery technologies are proposed in this paper to be applied in the construction process of domain ontology. Through dealing with the text in the domain corpus base, the domain concepts and their relationships can be acquired from domain corpus, and then the results of acquisition are veritied by domain experts. The domain ontology construction based on knowledge discovery can reduce the dependence to domain experts, raise automation level of ontology construction, and accelerate the process of ontology construction. With the guidance of these theories and methods, a demonstrating domain ontology based on patent information resources of plasma is constructed in this paper.
