Concept combination is an important subject in cognitive psychology, which can be studied from different perspectives, such as concept formation, classification, creativity, etc. Since 90s, with the development of creative cognition, creativity in concept combination has been more and more emphasized. However, the studies about this field are focused more on theoretical ideas than on experimental results. Furthermore, former researchers always ignored the possible effects of age and experimental material on results. For the above-mentioned reasons, this study focuses on pupils subjects and choose three kinds of concepts with different levels of abstraction as experimental materials so as to examine the effects of grade and experimental material on creativity in concept combination. The following conclusions have been drawn:1. Grade is one of the influential factors of pupils' creativity in concept combination. With grade going up, creativity in concept combination is rising.2. The level of abstraction of the concept is one of the influential factors of pupils' creativity in concept combination. In grade two, taking three kinds concepts with different levels of abstraction as materials, three creative scores have no significant difference. It shows that taking threekinds of concepts with different levels of abstraction as material, the student of grade two always use the concept with the middle level of abstraction instead of the other kind of concept to combine. In grade four and five, taking three kinds concepts with different levels of abstraction as materials, yet three creative scores have significant difference. It shows that the creative score gained from concept with the middle level of abstraction is higher than creative scores from the high and low levels of abstraction.3. In the experiment of creativity in concept combination, grade influences strategies of concept combination. Except scene strategy, with grade going up, the number of children using the other strategies is rising.4. In the experiment of creativity in concept combination, the level of abstraction of the concept influences strategies of concept combination. In the material composed of the concept with the high level of abstraction, pupils tend to use hybrid strategy and conjunctive strategy. In the three materials composed of the three kinds of concept, the numbers of student using the other three kinds of strategies are similar.
