Some Thoughts On Si Maqian's "FaFenZhuShu" From A Perspective Of Contemporary Aesthetics

"FaFenZhuShu"is one of the most important viewpoints of Si Maqian which has been always the hot topic of Chinese Classical Aesthetics due to its rich thought. However, this thesis discusses from a perspective of Contemporary Aesthetics for the following reasons. Firstly, the meaning of"FaFenZhuShu"had changed a lot ever since it was raised by Si Maqian for the first time. It changed from a single personal experience to the theory"One Benefits from Suffering"which contained more complex meaning for a group of people. Secondly, most scholars neglected the original meaning of Si Maqian'view on"FaFenZhuShu", which was very important in the view of the author. Thirdly, although, some scholars did noticed the importance of"Fen", they seldom focused on the relationship between"Fen"and"Zhu".Based on the reasons list above, I elaborated mainly four topics. To begin with, I talked about the basic meaning of"FaFenZhuShu"refered by Si Maqian and emphasized the importance of"Fen". Then, I discussed in details my personal viewpoints on the relationship between Si Maqian's"Fen"and"Zhu".In my view of point, it was"Fen"which hurt not only the body but also the spirit that made Si Maqian a great writer. From bodily esthetics, I tried to analyze the Dynasty in pursuit of body integrity and cleared out the most important reasons of"Fen".Furthermore, I valued"Fen"very much, and got to the heart of the matter. I found out there were three stages including"Fen","acceptance"and"Zhu"in Si Maqian's hard life by practicing moral culture ."Fen"was one of human emotions ,which formed its emotion esthetics view and produced its psychological esthetics mechanism.Zhu is a esthetic creationg based on temperate emotion .Last but not the least, Si Maqian's"FaFenZhuShu"had plenty of contents including both Classical Aesthetics and Contemporary Aesthetics. For example how to adjust his emtion? When practicing moral and human emotion were related,life obtained rebirth,individual took on happiness,free and awareness. As far as I am concerned, I prefer Contemporary Aesthetics of Si Maqian's statement to its Classical Aesthetics. I think it maybe an interesting task to review Si Maqian's"FaFenZhuShu"from a perspective of Contemporary Aesthetics. After all, the phenomenon mentioned by Si Maqian long time ago is still a common thing nowadays.
