This dissertation, which aims to investigate the usage and characters of Cheng Du Fu Ci (CDFC) in "Sanbao Tai Jian Xi Yang Tong Su Yan Yi" (abbreviated as "Xi Yang Ji" in the follows), makes a thorough survey, analysis and depiction on the CDFC, using "Xi Yang Ji" as the research resource. It arrives at its conclusion on the foundation of grammar theory, the achievements in the relative realm, and under the help of mathematical statistics. Moreover, it carries out a temporal analysis through comparing "Shui Hu Zhuan", "Xi You Ji", "Jin Ping Mei", "Er Nv Ying Xiong Zhuan" etc. in Ming and Tsing dynasty, in addition with the use of modern language, thus to form a comprehensive understanding on the usage of Chinese CDFC in late proximal times, as well as to do some supplements and discoveries. This dissertation is divided into three parts:Section One, mainly explains the definition and the standards of classification of CDFC on the foundation of relative achievements already gotten by counterparts in the field. In addition, this section also specifies the circumscription along with the classification of its subject.Section Two is about the mathematical statistics on the "Xi Yang Ji". It analyzes all the seven-eight CDFC appearing in this novel in four classes of two categories through detailed statistics and depiction, which consists the usage -including the practical frequency, the grammar function, and the place in the sentences etc.—the origin, and the era of the subject. It also compares with some literatures in Ming and Tsing dynasty to discuss the use and developmental characters of Cheng du fu ci CDFC in proximal times.Section Three systematically investigates the syllable characters and the assemble function of CDFC, its grammar elements with other modifications, and summarily analyzes some problems as to the combining usage of CDFC in the novel. This part finally sums up the use of CDFC in "Xi Yang Ji", along with its role in the integral modern times and its inheritance as well as development in modern language.
