Nowadays,it plays an important part in fields of tranditonal culture, social literatureand ideology in China. Based on the research achievements on coupletaccomplished by previous scholars, discussing its origin and developmentprocess, summing up its category, analyzing its composing form,rhetorical device and characteristic, this thesis clarifies the reason whycouplet can be passed on and developed through dynasties while be lovedby all walks of people in China's history.
