Vietnam Couplet And Related Research

It is commonly known,that the couplet is a unique literary form in the treasure house of Chinese traditional culture.Together with QuFu poetry and other literature,the couplet was introduced to Vietnam with Chinese characters.Influenced by various factors such as language,culture and society,the couplet style gradually changed,and displayed the unique characteristics of the Vietnamese culture.This thesis focuses on the study of the unique traits of the Vietnamese couplet culture.In fact,the Vietnamese couplet culture has long garnered the attention of academic scholars;mainly focusing on simplifying the meaning,exploring the story of the couplets,summarizing Vietnamese couplet categories,merging the Thang Long Ha Noi,and other regions' couplet styles,or comparing and contrasting the different styles.But few scholars study couplets from the broader perspective;focusing on specific differences as well as cultural traits.Based on a previous research,this thesis focuses on the development of each stage,metrical and rhetorical features of Vietnamese couplets,and discusses the close relationship between the couplet culture and social culture in Vietnam through the hand writing metal slug collection of Vietnam Nguyen Zhu Ben couplet in investigating the di of couplet in Vietnam,and also studies the unique characteristics of the Vietnamese couplet form-nom character couplets,.The paper consists of six chapters:First chapter is the introduction part,points out the significance of studying Vietnamese couplet culture,describes the present situation of Chinese and Vietnamese couplets,discusses the research objectives,research contents and key problems to be solved and to be expounded.The outlines of the research methods and the innovation of this thesis.The second chapter is briefly introduces the history of Vietnamese couplets.Based on research,the author divides the development of the Vietnamese couplet into different parts,frequency,acceptance,inheritance,prosperity,summit and renaissance according to the development stage of the Vietnam history in order to offer some academic value of future studies.The third chapter introduces the development situation of Chinese couplet after being introduced to Vietnam.The Vietnamese couplet maintains Chinese characteristics especially rules and rhetoric also its own characteristics.The author uses the example analysis method to analyze and list the similarities and differences between couplet rules and rhetoric between the two countries and praises the development of the rules and the rhetoric itself.The fourth chapter discusses that the couplet is the part of society as a whole culture,which reflects some characteristics of the Vietnamese culture itself.We can find the characteristics of the Vietnamese culture by studying the Vietnam couplet,which was influenced by Chinese Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism,western Catholic thought,national hero worship ancestor worship mother belief,faith and other local folk beliefs in Vietnam.The paper praises the close relationship between the whole social culture as the conclusion.The fifth chapter introduces the using of the Vietnam couplet terms.Most of the existing version of Vietnam couplets of handwriting with different calligraphy,painting,and vertical cross and different authors with different writing styles,so to understand the variant chinese character in the original data is one of the most important task,which is also a important to collect Chinese characters in Vietnam books and identifying the important stage of the terms.This paper a large number of variant chinese character in Vietnam couplet which are are no included in the dictionary of terms in China,which has great significance for collecting and using variant chinese character around the world.The sixth chapter introduces the new-form Vietnamese couplet formed-nom character couplet influenced by language and culture in Vietnam.Chinese characters have been introduced to Vietnam for thousands of years,but they can not express all Vietnamese language.And couplet is a kind of literary form used by both by the upper class and the under class,which makes the couplet popular and colorful and it is good for the Vietnamese people to make up for the missing in chinese couplets.In addition,nom character couplets and the appearing of the future Vietnam mandarin words prove the vitality of couplets and the new words can not only be adapted to the reality in Vietnam but also the development of the Vietnamese couplet.The paper is an unprecedented attempt and the research results are good for the understanding of couplet,linguistics,philology,literature theory and culture in both china and Vietnam.The paper is hoped to provide a valuable reference material for the study of couplet research in both china and Vietnam.
