Literature circles teaching approach is not a new method of reading in USA, and it has been applied for more than fifteen years. It was originated from a unique finding by an English teacher. In essence, it applies the cooperation learning to make up the flaws in reading teaching, to solve all kinds of problem in traditional reading teaching. It made a dramatic change in the practical teaching of reading after it had been introduced to China.This kind of open activity have unified both democracy and diversity. Literature circles teaching approach respects student's free expression and unique understanding, focusing on the development of emotion, aesthetic, creativity, cooperation of communication and independent study. Through reading ,discussing, communication, sharing in literature circles, students could recognize themselves and improve their confidence, and cultivate their interesting and habits about reading, forming the ability of well-being, and become a people of Life-long love in reading. As a method of infinite generation reading teaching approach, literature circles teaching approach provides a lot of valuable reference for our domestic reading teaching.The most significant meaning of literature circles teaching approach is that it has provided a fresh method of reading teaching approach, and it has a bright future. The traditional teaching method will gradually become a one-way teaching, while the literature circles teaching approach changing lecturing into free discussion, changing the authority of teacher into the personal opinions of students have been given high priority, changing the intensive reading into long-term reading. All of these advantage could reflect the conception of the new curriculum standards, and it will cast a deep influence on the next round of curriculum teaching reform.This thesis focuses on the conception and procedure of literature circles teaching approach, the author makes some preliminary attempts on this issue. In the end of this thesis, it contains some thought and suggestion on how to adopt literature circles teaching approach into domestic Chinese reading. In the first chapter, the author makes a general review on the condition of study in home and abroad. At the same time, refers the scope and significance of this thesis. In the second chapter, from the background of the literature circles teaching approach, the author deduces the general conception, principle and basic theory of literature circles teaching approach. In the third chapter, the author introduces the material condition on literature circles teaching approach, in other words, the cultural atmosphere of the classroom, as well as the characteristic of literature circles teaching approach. In the forth chapter, the author introduces the procedure of literature circles teaching approach , and the author makes some reflection on this method after some attempts. In the fifth chapter, the author objectively analyzes the advantages and limitations of literature circles teaching approach. In the sixth chapter, the author makes some thinking on the domestic reading teaching of domestic condition, and gave some suggestion on how to apply it into teaching activities.Literature circles teaching approach has been applied widely overseas, while few people pay attention to this topic in China, and the author feels that maybe there is some imperfect in the suggestions given in the thesis. The author hopes more and more scholars will attend this study and make the literature circles teaching approach a more successful one in the future.
