It's doubtless that, in the painting world, Shi Tao have standed on the shoulders of the giants before him. He hoped to look farther and do better than the ancients. Shi Tao danced in his own painting world uplifting a flag of 'Oneself' with a basis of the ancients' great achievements.Looking at the scholars who had researched on Shi Tao, Whether it was the appreciation of his paintings, or their tracking back in his theories of his paintings, it is inevitable to explore Shi Tao's unique characteristics and personality. The authorbelieves that the reasons for which there is only one------the characteristics of Shi Tao'sprincipal consciousness in his aesthetics ideas on paintings. In the author's opinion,, these two sentences 'Considering HUAYU of the universe' and 'JIHUA between my spirit and the mountains and rivers' generalized the soul of Shi Tao's 'Oneself' characteristics of his aesthetics ideas on paintings. Brightly, these two sentences are the key of Shi Tao's aesthetics ideas in paintings and show that the status of Shi Tao's 'Oneself' is magistral. Shi Tao's principal consciousness in his aesthetics ideas on paintings will be discussed in this article, hoping to go on exploring about Shi Tao along this line and recognize a real Shi Tao. Then we can understand Shi Tao's theories on paintings from a new point of view. Finally, we will know that the value of the characteristics of Shi Tao's principal consciousness is that he had paid so much importance to individual lives just as 'Oneself' and had inherit of Chinese traditional aesthetic thought on paintings successfully.The reason why Shi Tao had attached importance to 'Oneself' will be introduced in Chapter 1. Discussing begin with Shi Tao's self-portrait which points out that Shi Tao had attached importance to 'Oneself'. Then the necessity of why Shi Tao had attached importance to 'Oneself' will be discussed by analyzing Shi Tao's heart road and the origin of his ideas, Shi Tao's trail and the background of Shi Tao's paintings and theories. So that, the conclusion is that the most especial characteristics of Shi Tao's aesthetics ideas on paintings is that thinking traditionally on art by the style of 'Oneself'. The especial way of art thinking manifests two phases, one is that 'Considering HUAYU of the universe', the other is that 'JIHUA between my spirit and the mountains and rivers'.The first phase 'Considering HUAYU of the universe' will be discussed particularly in Chapter 2. Firstly, making 'HUAYU' clearly will show Shi Tao's way of treating tradition and 'Oneself' . Secondly, the conditions of considering HUAYU by 'Oneself' will be analyzed. It manifests that Shi Tao had attached so much importance to 'Oneself' . Finally, Shi Tao's realistic spirit will be proved by 'HUAYU consists in the universe'. It shows that Shi Tao not only had respected tradition but also had attached importance to 'Oneself' .The second phase 'JIHUA between my spirit and the mountains and rivers' will be discussed particularly in Chapter 3. Firstly, the second phase continues the first phase will be explained. These two phases should not be dissevered. Secondly, Discussing begin with 'SHENYU' to make the origin of 'SHENYU' clearly. Then ' JIHUA' will be explained clearly through many researchers' fruit on Shi Tao and the soul of traditional aesthetics ideas in China. Finally, the conditions to 'JIHUA on painting will be discussed. It will show that 'Oneself' is important for Shi Tao' in his paintings and his aesthetics ideas.The value and the influence of Shi Tao's 'Oneself' characteristics of his aesthetics ideas on paintings will be discussed in Chapter 4. The value of the characteristics of Shi Tao's principal consciousness is his innovative spirit. Shi Tao influenced greatly in the history of didacticism in China because he had inherited the most important part of the aesthetics ideas of the ancients on paintings in China and he had treated the relationship between the aesthetics ideas of traditions and innovation of 'Oneself' successfully. It make great influence to the offspring and inspirit them to think 'Oneself' and make great efforts on paintings.
