Study Of "Implicit Knowledge" In Dummett's Theory Of Meaning

Theory of meaning is an important subject in philosophy of language study. As the important thought schools of philosophy in twentieth century, theories and methodologies of linguistic philosophy have been widely spreaded and used in European and American academic circles, this kinds of thought movement is commonly known as "linguistic turn",from this, focus of philosophical researches have been directed to the study on meaning of language.Starting with the background of theory of meaning, and relating on the basis of the literature in Freg and Dumett' theory of meaning,the research refers to reconstruction value in Dumett's theory of meaning.The research has summarized three angles from Freg' theory as followings:connotations and meanings of the sentences;thought and truth; “the third realm” of the thought.Dummett has inherited and developed Freg's theory of meaning, using the differences between “the third realm”and “implicit knowledge”as theory clues,which are elaborated rationality for construction meaning of "implicit knowledge" and it's function in the theoretical principles.On the judgment of truth,Dummett put forward three cognitive dimensions including “truth and assertion”?“Tarski' defense of Convention T” and “the feasibility of theory of meaning”,which opens the new visions on the study of theory of meaning for us.In the process of constructing the theory of meaning, Dummett has emphasized on the language practices for the theory reconstruction.Using the language practices to manifest the speaker's “implicit knowledge”, and taking language practice to distinguish whether speaker have instructions in knowledge of theory of meaning.Finally, the study is suggested that,through Freg's theoryof meaning, Dummett reconstructed the theory of meaning and put forward the concept of “commitment”, and the research is believed that concept of commitment has more priority compare to the concept of verification.Research showed that "implicit knowledge" was the core concept of Dummett's theory of meaning, as the precondition of “the principle of manifestation” in Dummett's theory of meaning,Dummett used "verification" as method and "practice" for the purpose to explain the significance of theoretical construction,he took on the position of the language experience to build the feasibility of the theory of meaning. Construction on its theory in terms of the concept of "implicit knowledge",which explained the mechanism for how language to work, but not how to properly illustrate the thought how to think correctly. Thought can be thought correctly, which is the goal of theory of meaning, but for thought how to be right, metaphysics thinking naturally into our sight, from thinking in terms of correctness, metaphysics is the theory's needs can not be denied, if thought can not be determined as the correct thoughts from the ontology sense, thought can not promise "all true" value. All this brings us back to the question raised by Frege, what is thought,thinking how to correct thinking and what language is the language.The language how become an issue of the philosophy of language study, which characterize the philosophy of language on the ontology problem which cannot avoid the interrogation of metaphysics. Inspiration to rethink classical philosophy ontology and epistemology, is the way to find a new way, when the rational re-examine the question of metaphysics, philosophy of language indicates that metaphysics will be revive from philosophy of language.
