This thesis dissertates on the Hyperprism for wind and percussion (1922-1923), which was composed in 1920' by Edgard Varese, a French-bom American composer. The analysis not only emphasizes on the pitch organization of the musical-tone system and non-musical-tone system respectively, but also on the logic relationship between them, and what's more, explores the structure of the sound primarily. The thesis, written under the way that letter depiction combining with illustration, includes: introduction, text, annotation, conclusion, references and appendix.The text combined by three chapters:Chapter 1: The introduction of Varese, including the biography, compositional periods and concept of musical, all above, is generalized briefly. And the macroscopic description is about the summarization and form of the Hyperprism.Chapter 2: This chapter analyses: the relationship in the musical-tone system in view of pitch class sets, core-interval and symmetry; the pitched sound and material usage of the non-musical-tone system comprehensively; the usage of absolute noise made by non-musical-instrument "percussion", and the logic relationship between musical-tone system and non-musical-tone system.Chapter 3: The comprehensive and primary analysis is about the structure of sound in the Hyperprism...
