TheoperaZanYuenisoneofthemilestonesinChineseoperahistory.This thesis,byanalyzing the character of the heroine ---Nazhen Gaowa, aims to reveal the artisticcharming of this role. Nazhen Gaowa in this opera is an innocent Tuerhute girl withdistinct character: she has strong love and hatred while she is brave enough to sacrificeherownlifefortheinterestsofthenation.The present thesis is composed of three sections: introduction, the man bodyand theconclusion.In the Introduction, the origin and significance, related literature and theinnovation of the thesis are discussed.The man body consists of five parts: part 1overviews the opera Zan Yuen. Part 2 analyzes the dramatic image of Nazhen Gaowafrombothherimagecreationandherrelationshipwithothercharacters.Part3approachesthe image of Nazhen Gaowa by analyzing her music theme as well as her arias andquartets. Part 4 from the concert on the Nazhen Gaowa second creation of the charactersmade some of their insights and ideas. Part 5 analyzed the charm of the opera ZanYuen.Theconclusiongivesanoverallassessmenttotheopera Zan Yuen anditsheroine.
