Ye Shi Society Thought Research

South Song dynasty has reached a peace agreement with Jin dynasty, that avoid South of Yang zi River district under the devastation of Jin dynasty, and this restored the economy of South Song dynasty. As a whole, South Song dynasty faced a series of social problems such as ethnic conflicts, financial strain, revolt of lower level populace caused by unsuitable measure of the government, class contradiction. During this hard time a lot of state men, thinkers and progressive scholars appeared, they cared about the national future, cared about the national destiny, they put forward all kinds of measure to solve the social crises, and Ye Shi is one of famous person of them.In this thesis, I analysed his social critique thought and crowned head idea according to the methods he put forward to solve the social crises. The thesis can be divided into these parts:The first part is the foreword. In this part, I reviewed and analysed the predecessor studies about Ye Shi thought.The second part, Ye Shi criticized the problems of the society and put forward his methods to solve the social crises. This part can be divided into two chapters. In the first chapter, Ye Shi criticized the problems of the society and put forward his methods to solve the social crises. He criticized three social problems: The crowned headed centralization made the state poor and weak; Land centralization and the government controlled the state economy; unreasonable officer selecting system. At the same time, he put forward his methods to solve the social problems: Award military right, civil right and financial right the emperor owned to the officers and generals Give benefit to the people. In the second chapter Ye Shi criticized the rule thought of the dynasty. First, he against attaching importance to agriculture but suppressing the development of commerce. He thought that the government must pay attention to the development of commerce. He even thought that industrialists and businessmen should have the right to participate the government and deliberate the government affairs. Second, he criticized the traditional financial thought.The third part is his idea about emperor. This part can be divided into four chapters. The first chapter, he thought that an emperor must own extemal and intrinsic quality. The intrinsic quality include personal character and authority, the extemal quality is the emperor should know which right he must owned and which right he must award to the officials. The second chapter is about emperor's rule thought. Ye Shi emphasize that a emperor must establish,"eliminate talking, pay attention to practice", adjust government system, dive out unnecessary officers pay attention to finance and so on .The third chapter is about Ye Shi's governing way. Ye Shi thought that a emperor has the liability to feed people, an emperor should implement kind politics. The forth part is about the historical characteristics of Ye Shi's crowned head thought. Ye Shi payed more attention to solving social problem than other thinks living in his time.The forth party is about Ye Shi's social idea. This part can be divided into four chapters. The first chapter is about the background that Ye Shi's social idea born. The second chapter is the character of Ye Shi's social idea. The outstanding feature of his ideal society is an ideal emperor in the society. The third chapter the pattern of his ideal society. In this ideal society, the emperor is get on well with people, different class persons are get on well with each other. The forth part: the significance of his ideal society.
