It has been more than one hundred years since violin was introduced into China, the purpose of this article is to study the development and spread of violin in modern China, especially from the beginning of the 20th century, when Chinese students studied playing violin abroad, to 1949 when China was founded. During the first half of the 20th century, the development of the violin in China mainly experienced three stages: firstly accepting violin at the beginning of the 20th century; professional musicians' developing violin during 20-30 years of 20th century; After 1949, initially the violin was systematically and regularly taught, produced and played in China, so that gradually western music, including violin, got vigorous development in China.The introduction of violin also had certain effect on traditional Chinese art. It improved traditional music especially the playing methods of the stringed instruments. Simultaneously, it also helps Chinese music artists maintain confidence in traditional music. Early music artist emphasized to preserve and develop the features of traditional music when accepting violin, which featured the early production of violin Chinese characteristic and unique artistic aesthetic feeling.This article is based on others' study as well as historical and cultural books, primarily studies the spread and development of violin in China during the first half of the 20th century. Learn about the approval to the violin at that time by inspecting and analyzing relative historical data; illuminate the unique national characteristics of violin in China during half century by presenting the style and features of music works. This article can be divided into five chapters, and the research approaches include investigation, comparison, analysis and others.
