On The Contemporary Of Chinese Shelf-painting

The history of art is often described as a process of various styles emerging and changing. Since 1990's through the shelf-painting has not with drawn from the history stage, it has experienced an enormous change, as if the concentration of history in a limited time. It is the same as the change of a country, from political system to economic model, from social formation to life style. The "reality" of art is mainly composed by the simultaneous reappearance of various artistic histories. The great variety of artistic concepts and language performance are produced by the interweaving of acceptance of western foreign culture and rediscovery of traditional culture, which constitutes the marvelous vision scene of Chinese shelf - painting.It is an important mission of Chinese artists since 20th century that how to establish the value ideology of the shelf - painting based on the multi - cultural dimension and construct its specific contemporary characters . Then, to the contemporary artists, it is typically important that they should have the sense of surpassing, not only focusing on the practice of article language system, but also on the reality and humanity. They should have a strong awareness of heterogeneity as well as tradition. They should identify and pursue the spirit of contemporary culture, and ensure strategically of the reality of the shelf- painting. Therefore, it is necessary and important to make the case study of the artist with this qualities .In this paper, through the comparative study of ChaoGe and DingFang, the two representatives, I try to reveal the contemporary of the shelf - painting and hope that it can arouse the deep thinking to the engaged painters. Moreover, they have a significant influence on my own painting style. So, through the description of their artistic style , I hope it can give guidelines and creative inspiration to the people who also like art and shelf -painting.
