The paper collects information about ink-slab in the various historical periods of China, which is from the Stone Age when people started to produce grinders to the Qing Dynasty, and then consolidate and analyze it. The thesis will mainly explore the following areas: First of all, research of ink-slab's functions. Ink-slab, as one of the four treasures in our country, had its special features, a unique status, and a long history. In the course of use, people will have certain request of its size; therefore, the ergonomics study on its size is of particular importance. Secondly, because China has high demands for objects' aesthetic since ancient times, so is the objects' form. Therefore, this paper has analysis on the style and form of ink-slab, explores the traditional design elements in China, and further deepens study theory and methods of our objects.Paper, " Chapter I Introduction " will mainly have a brief statement of research methods and significance of topics; "Chapter II Development of the ink-slab " describes the overall state of ink-slab, including the text source, the short development history, and classification about "ink-slab"; " Chapter III Style pattern development of the ink-slab " systematically analyzes the overall shape of the ink-slab in all times and explores the effects on style of different periods of aesthetic concepts of the ink-slab; "Chapter IV Development of modeling about and proportion analysis of the ink-slab " focuses on analysis on the changes of shape with the functional structure in the different periods and its relevant proportion; "Chapter V Aesthetic exploration of style development of ink-slab" sums up the changes of style structure of ink-slab, explores the different aesthetic trends, and provides inspirations of the traditional elements into modern design.
