The Aesthetic Cultural Connotation And Historical Evolution About The Image Of Chang E

The image of Chang E appears in many kinds of artistic forms, such as the myth, the fable, the poetry, the novel, the drama, the dance, the sculpture, the soap opera and so on. It is an artistic image with cultural significances, including from humanity's initial esthetic idea about life and death, the esthetic culture about the image of Chinese feminine in the historical development to the esthetic annotations about female entrusted the roles in the love and marriage. The artistic image has more widespread esthetic cultural connotation than the images of Nv Wa, West Queen and so on. The researches and the explorations to the image of Chang E can't leave the specific background of the Chinese esthetic culture. The culture is defined "a kind of social existence with non-material shape"?from the esthetic angle. The esthetic culture receives the influences of many factors such as the production method, the life style, the belief way and the thinking mode and so on in the specific time of the nature, as one of expressions about the culture of a nature?. The esthetic cultural explanations to the image of Chang E are the results combined action under the factors. This paper will study the images of Chang E existed in many artistic forms from pre-Qin until now, and inquire into the rich esthetic culture connotation manifested by the images according to the different demands of esthetic views and cultural context in different historical period.The main part of this thesis is divided into three chapters in addition to the preface and the conclusion.In Chapter I , it studies the esthetic manifestation of the human history activities implicated in the activity of Chang E rushing to the moon from the text records of pre-Qin until Han Dynasty. Firstly, according to the metaphor of the myth for the humanity production and life, this paper discusses the consciousness shift when humanity face the fear of death and balance this fear, to explain the activity of Chang E rushing to the moon, Secondly, it explains the cultural significance of the activity of Chang E rushing to the moon when humanity realize the woman's function in human own production from the angle of the race extension, and discovers the consciousness of the maternal worship. Thirdly, on the one hand the status changes of Chang E transmits the feminine authority to dive in the development process from matriarchal society to paternal line society, on the other hand Chang E becomes the esthetic image that's concrete and feeling in the transformation from the myth to the immortal-tale.In chapter II, it mainly unfolds the enhancement of the esthetic consciousness and the weakness of the political enlightenment significance about the images of Chang E in the transformation from the myth to the immortal-tale from the angle of poetries and novels during Tang Dynasty and Qing Dynasty. Firstly, Chang E has become the synonym of the moon and the metaphor of the happy sentiment and things in the society. It was the important component of esthetic life such as reading poems and watching moon to the gentlemen, and it was a goal with unremitting pursue to pass the imperial civil service examinations for the scholars. Simultaneously the Mid-Autumn Festival has become the important traditional festival of the folk. All the above have entrusted with the richer cultural connotation for the image of Chang E. Secondly, Chang E became the feminine symbol pursuing independence and freedom, fitted to the esthetic characteristic of secularization, and conformed to the esthetic psychology and the esthetic interest of the residential social stratum.In chapter III, it mainly studies the condition of esthetic acceptance and the connotation level that are more open and diversified from all sorts of art about Chang E. The image of Chang E has unfolded the colorful esthetic deduction through the traditional and modern performance ways such as Peking opera, ballet, novel, soap opera and so on. The modern and present writers have unified the esthetic interest and the thinking mode of the audience, demonstrated the diversified esthetic angles about the image of Chang E in front of the audiences and readers. The esthetic thought of the female in the love, family and marital has entrusted the image of Chang E with the new current relevance and the cultural color, as the gradual decline of the male power society and the quiet rise of the feminine in the economic status and the social position.
