The study of meaning production and construction of Chinese"Noun + Verb"(N+V) has been focused in the linguistic field. Most of the time, many Chinese scholars study the construction and meaning of Chinese N+V from the perspectives of representation and grammar allocation. Although their studies have made some important progress, it can not be denied that their explanation on construction and meaning production of Chinese N+V is always characterized with strong subjectivity of description and representative analysis. Traditional allocation and compositionality, which focus on reasonable allocation and logical composition, fails to give cognition explanation for construction and meaning production of Chinese N+V.Recently, the new progress of cognitive linguistics provides new perspectives to the study of construction and meaning production of Chinese N+V, and causes more attentions in the linguistic fields. This thesis has searched out a large number of Chinese data about N+V from the Chinese database. It makes use of image schema, conceptual integration theory and construction grammar, trying to discuss and analyze the collected data from the cognitive construal perspectives. The current study attempts to elaborate the construction and meaning production of Chinese N+V mainly from the following aspects: 1) Image schemas are the topological construction in the human brain; 2) The representative pattern of Chinese N+V is the generation and abstraction of image schemas; 3) What is the pairing relationship between form and meaning of Chinese N+V; 4) What is the mechanism of meaning production of Chinese N+V. Through the analysis of the collected data, the results of research are that the representative patterns of Chinese N+V has a connection with the human's cognitive schema. Moreover, the essential property of collocation in Chinese N+V is the conceptual integration of the dynamic schemas connected by the spatial relationship. Thus, this study has explored and generalized the mechanism of the cause of meaning-formation in various Chinese patterns.
