As an essential part of translation studies, translation criticism plays an indispensable role in translation theory and practice. The study of translation criticism criteria is at the very core of the theory of translation criticism. However, due to its underdevelopment, translation criticism has long been in an unsound state so as to result in some superficial or false criticism and even the failure of its proper role in translation practice. Few efforts have been made to formulate a systematic study on translation criticism criteria. In view of this situation, based on a brief review of the existing studies of translation criticism, this thesis attempts to explore the dynamic and multiple features of translation criticism and suggest a comprehensive model of translation criticism. This system includes:(1) Text criteria. In this part, the unitary and multiple features of the criterion of faithfulness are expounded from the aspects of meaning, phonetics, image, artistic conception, spirit, form, style and effect. (2) Non-text criteria. This part discusses the aspects of society, culture and language of the non-text criteria. To conduct translation criticism properly, the leading factor of the critic cannot be ignored. Therefore, the self-discipline criteria for the critic are discussed at the end so as to be beneficial to the sound development of translation criticism.
