| The purpose of this paper is to analyze the love metaphor in daily English dialogues and scripts from the perspective of generation of metaphor aiming to expound the deep reason of the generation of love metaphor in daily English dialogues and scripts. According to Lakoff and Johnson, the important scholars, in the field of cognitive linguistics, metaphor is pervasive in daily life, not only in language, but also in thought and behavior. In daily English dialogues and scripts, there are abundant metaphorical expressions of love. A lot of scholars have written papers to analyze similarities and dissimilarities of love metaphors in Chinese and in English by comparison and they have pointed out that the similarities are because of the similar human bodily experience and life experience, the common psychological and physiological basis, while the dissimilarities lie in differences in cultural background, customs, ways of life, religion, philosophy and geographical surroundings and so on.The data used in my thesis are collected on the basis of love metaphor in daily English dialogues and scripts and the conceptual system for love metaphor in English according to K?vecses and so on. Firstly, this thesis will analyze it from the EVENT STRUCTURE metaphor, for love is an emotional state. Secondly, love is one kind of emotion; it can be analyzed from the master metaphor EMOTION IS FORCE. Thirdly, love also implies a relationship, so this paper will analyze it from the metaphors concerning relationships such as ATTRIBUTES ARE POSSESSED OBJECTS metaphor, a higher-level metaphor. Metaphor is the mapping from the source domain to the target domain. From the perspective of generation of metaphor, my thesis will cite abundant daily English examples of love metaphor to analyze the deep reason of the generation of love metaphor in daily English dialogues and scripts and provide Chinese English learners with another access to better understanding and comprehension of love metaphors in daily English.
