The Technique And Design Of Jewelry And Its Embodiments In Art Craft

Throughout the long history of mankind, a great variety of jewelry, shaped in different eras and from different peoples or nationalities has come into being. At the meanwhile, the progress made in productive capacity and technology made setting jewelry staged into the jewelry industry, demonstrating a totally different picture from what it used to be and accounting for a great proportion in the jewelry industry. In an era where people's life is demonstrate and shape a person's preposition. setting jewelry is also an important means for people to improve people's living conditions because they are aesthetic productions with great vitality, excellent designs, and selective materials, thus adding poetic meanings to people's life. Based on the positive results from previous research, this dissertation tries to explore on the designs of setting jewelry and their embodiments in art.To start with, the paper expounds the relation between the history of jewelry making and jewelry setting, the connotation of jewelry and the category of setting jewelry. Followed by the first part is the elaboration on the shining of setting jewelry, its progress, its art craft and the aesthetic feelings it brings to females. In the third part of this paper, the author analyzes how jewelry elements are shown in jewelry making, including the basic components like dots, lines and facets. Also seen in this part is how these elements are formed in setting jewelry and how setting jewelry is made. The process of making setting jewelry is to be introduced briefly in this part too. Based on the productions that the author did himself and the imitations on the classic foreign well-known brands, this dissertation analyzes systematically how setting jewelry are made and the employment of techniques like claw,bar setting,claw setting in the makings of setting jewelry. The author also tries to expound the skills that are needed in the process of making setting jewelry, analyzes the main points, difficult points and key points in the process and bring up tentative solutions to these problems with their design and production. In the chapter six, the author introduces the embodiment of styling art jewelry, which is mainly based on his own production in a oval shape. The author proves that wax jewelry hand-craft is an efficient way to design art jewelry, because when it is put together with metal arts, the art appreciations of styling art jewelry can be maximized. By making real samples of setting jewelry, the author also expounds in this dissertation the seven aesthetic aspects that are characterized in setting jewelry, namely, art, life, times, design, material, personality and collectivity. The author also expounds the values that are shown in setting jewelry, namely, commodity value, human value, historical value, collecting value, fashion-leading value and symbolizing value. In the last part of this dissertation, the author lists the criteria and standards that are employed in assessing jewelry. Also included in this part are the samples of the author's jewelry productions.
