As one of the most important cinema theories from 1980s, the "Cinema of Attraction" coined by Tom Gunning and Andre Gaudreault has been used in many kinds of cinema studies. It constructed a new kind of movie, through the attraction elements researching, which distinguished between the narrative ones. These movies emphasize the relationship with the audience, and the filmmakers use every method to appeal to the taste of the public.Mary Farquhar and Chris Berry used "Cinema of Attraction" on the study of "Chinese Opera" film. They thought this theory could help us to reacquaint Chinese Opera film. The "Martial Art" film, with far-reaching popularity in China, shared the similar subjects and expressions with Chinese Opera film. The directors and action directors have created "attraction element" with their specialty through the exploring.The essay took the Martial Art film as an object of study, hope to find the developing trail of this film genre, through researching the "attraction elements" of the movies in "Martial Art" film producing peak in 20s and 60s. This essay can be divided into five parts:the introduction summarized the main purpose of the dissertation and the state approach of the "attraction element" by the cinema scholars. The first chapter is about Conquering Fun Mountain, from this movie, we can find the relationship between the Chinese Opera and the Martial Art film, and we also can easily find that Chinese cinema knew the secret of attraction from the first opus. The next two parts priority researched the "attraction elements" of Martial Art film in two producing peak, and also researched the expression form of the "attraction elements" through the different genre of the Martial Art filmmakers. The conclusion observed the recent Martial Art film from the attraction aspect, and elaborated the importance of the attraction research to the Martial Art film.
