The Study On Freak Of China's Higher Education

The Worker-Peasant-Soldier Student is the unique phenomenon in the history of Chinese higher education from 1970 to 1976. The Cultural Revolution took culture as its breakthrough, testing knife firstly at education, which became the political soil for the birth of the Worker-Peasant-Soldier Student; the existence of a large number of young intellectuals who had gone to the countryside, providing social reserves for the birth of the Worker-Peasant-Soldier Student; the abolishment of the college entrance examination system and the demands of the people for their repeal and the public mental, providing a system preparation and the social needs; the departments adjustment of the university in 1952, and, even the earlier anti-Japanese Military-Political University, and a variety of revolutionary universities, and the accelerated courses for the workers and the peasants, all of which constituted the historical origin for the birth of the Worker-Peasant-Soldier Student; the supreme leader's thought about education provided the ideological preparation for the birth of the Worker-Peasant-Soldier Student. As a result of various factors, the system of recommended to university came into being. Under the special admission standard——the "Recommended System", the national colleges and universities enrolled 940,000 Worker-Peasant-Soldier students. Most of them entered colleges and universities through the formal processes of the "recommended system ", but there were a lot of them who went into the university through the back-door and other various non-legitimate means. After the Worker-Peasant-Soldier Student entering university, the colleges and universities implemented actively about the call from the CPC Central Committee——"go to the university, manage the university, and reform the university with Mao Zedong Thought". They practiced the open-door-teaching mode of combination of teaching, research and production; in the setting of curriculum, the colleges and universities highlighted the major political lessons and practical classes, and established "an out-school-home". They went a way combining with the workers, the peasants, and the soldiers. The higher education of Shandong University in the seventies was an epitome of this mode. In the pan-political educational environment of "going, managing, and reforming", the teacher-student relationship was reversed, and teachers can not successfully start teaching. The Worker-Peasant-Soldier students gave publicity to all kinds of political activities organized by the school, and took part in them actively. Many students valued the opportunity for higher education, and they studied hard and changed their own destiny, becoming the outstanding persons of the Worker-Peasant-Soldier students. When the Worker-Peasant-Soldier Student graduated, a lot of them were assigned to the original units or provinces where they had worked in. Because of limitations of the times and the Pan-political education, their educational level was varied, and some of them were not good at professional qualification, which made them not being recognized by the society. All of those became their dull pain. But the Worker-Peasant-Soldier student had higher political enthusiasm and ideological consciousness, and they also had the character of hard-working. The fact proved, the Worker-Peasant-Soldier Student played a very important role in the modernization of the past and present, and they were the indispensable force.
