| Native English teachers are popular in English language teaching and nowadays agrowing number of students make their way to their oral English classes. The authoraims to figure out the reasons for native teachers'popularity and study their teachingapproach as well as strategies so as to set an example for those Chinese Englishteachers.A number of questionnaires have been designed and audio recording is taken todepict native English teachers'teaching approach in detail. By data analysis andtranscription, Learner-centered Approach is found to be their preference and variousstrategies are applied in classroom teaching. Thus, their classes are deemed aslearner-centered curriculum. A further study on language teaching strategies isconducted to make sense of their theoretical foundation as well as their proclaimedbenefits.By studying, the author witnesses a bunch of evidence confirming his suppositionthat native teachers'popularity lies in their predilection for Learner-centeredApproach to teaching. In practice, native teachers make efforts to promote positiveclassroom climate and multiple classroom interaction in service to students'decisiveand central role in classroom language learning. Furthermore, to facilitate learner'sself-initiated and independent learning, native teachers'resort to a handful ofstrategies in classroom teaching, including wining student's trust, group work and pairwork, fluency and accuracy pedagogical focus distinction and so forth. They areconcluded as the key to the success and popularity of native teacher's oral Englishclasses.In this study, researching methodologies of both qualitative analysis andquantitative analysis are applied. The author conducts quantitative research ofquestionnaire to launch the study on native teachers'teaching approach and thensupplies a reasonable supposition --- learner-centered curriculum. Later on, further qualitative research by audio transcription is undertaken to validate the supposition aswell as the result of the former research. |
