This thesis makes a study on film and TV music, which is an important expressive element in the three-dimensional time-space of the art of film and TV. Film and TV music has undergone over 80 years in the development course of phonofilms since the first phonofilm The Jazz Singer was shown in 1927. The attempts to practice are often aimless and the awakening of the theory is sluggish. Influenced by the theory of soundless film for a long time, the art of film and TV, which includes the six traditional arts of literature, art, drama, architecture, music and dance, presents a condition of imbalance of all its internal elements. The most apparently reflected area is the film and TV music, which has not been raised to the audio-visual level of film and TV in application. Besides, no system of theoretical study has been established in accordance with the law of film and TV art. Just think. If one of the six constituents develops abnormally, will the entire film and TV art develop smoothly? Will the final products of film and TV possess a good taste?Considering the urgency and necessity of research, this thesis conducts a study on the film and TV music from the aspects of its artistic form and its application. The study illustrates the viewpoints with specific works of films and TV and regards the film and TV music as an element of the creation of film and TV. The study tries to know and dissect the artistic form of film and TV from four angles, i.e. overall particularity, vocabulary system, common subordinate variety and the distribution of the variety. In addition, from the field of constructing audio-visual space and extending aesthetic rhyme, the thesis explores and analyzes the approach and law of applying art to the film and TV. With all these thoughts in mind, the author designs the framework of the thesis in a natural way. Chapter One is the introduction, which contains the summary of the whole thesis. Chapter Two deals with the overall particularity and vocabulary system. Chapter Three studies the subordinate variety and the distribution of the variety. Chapter Four discusses the application of constructing audio-visual space. Chapter Five talks about the application of extending aesthetic rhyme.To ensure the study can efficiently explore more profitable achievements in theory, the researcher pays constant attention to the scientific angle of research. He tries to combine theory with practice, macroscopic analysis and microscopic analysis, universality and specificity, aesthetic experience with artistic creation. Moreover, a series of scientific research approaches such as contrastive study, analytic induction, and observational method has been employed to reach a conclusion. By studying in such a way, the researcher hopes that the findings can play an important role in the development of the musical art of film and TV and even the entire art of film and TV.
