People often make choice after they have compared the possible results of different time intervals, and then the delaying results would be discounted. This discounting happening during intertemporal choice is known as delay discounting. Decision-making behavior of the results will be affected by many factors, one of which, hotly discussed recently, is the effect of emotion on decision-making. However, there are few studies on emotional impact based on delay discounting of this field. The study aims to discuss people's choice of the gain and loss from the aspect of anticipated emotion and ambient emotion at different time intervals, which provides empirical reference for the further study of the mechanism of delay discounting and enriches the content of intertemporal choice. Besides, the feature of intertemporal choice under different backgrounds is tested as well, which will benefit decision-makers managing their daily and decision-making.The study includes two experiments with the undergraduate students as the sample. Studyâ… :The delay discounting of expected money and anticipated emotion scale is used to test the response features of anticipated emotion and delay discounting and the relationship in between at the situation of gain and loss. Studyâ…¡:After the inspiration of positive, neutral and negative emotions, the samples are requested to complete the delay discounting task to test the influence on the delay discounting rate of the gain and loss. Through the two studies, conclusions are as follows:(1) At the situation of gain and loss, the delay-discounting rate and anticipated emotion discounting rate is the hyperbolic function.(2) Both subjective estimated value and anticipated emotional value are declined as time intervals become long. (3) The relationship between anticipated emotion rate and delay discounting is significant, and the higher the former, the higher the latter.(4) The main effect of ambient emotions on delay discounting is not significant.(5) At positive emotional state, the delay discounting rate of sample at the situation of gain is significantly higher than that of loss.(6) At both positive and negative states, the response time of the one at the situation of gain is higher than that of the loss.(7) Compared to ambient emotion, anticipated emotion is more significantly related to the impact on delay discounting.
