The opera poster is a type of theme posters. It takes opera performances as the expressive object and records the development process of traditional Chinese opera to some extent with distinct cultural characteristics and a mark of the time.Firstly,The paper makes an ordinary explanation on the concepts of pster, opera, theater ,opera poster and so on,which are the vocabularies related to the opera poster.The way to do this is the purpose of distinguishing the object of research.Secondly,to probably separate the the history of opera poster into three Stages,which are the pre-design, infancy of design and diversified design. And then,to analyze the presentation models in different stages by way of reading documents,the interview of experts, comparative analysis.It is the basis on the new design idea of the diversity visual appearance of the opera poster.Thirdly, to analyze the particular appearance of the three elements in opera poster,which are graph,typeface and color in the basic composition of opera poster.By way of contrasting with the theater poster to explain the advantageand and shortcoming of the design concept of opera poster in graphic statement and situation, characteristic principle and affection,color psychology and feeling.At last,it takes a general prospect for opera poster design in the Background of information diversity. Opera poster design must study in the advantageand of the theater poster and do research in the national design expression of the traditional Chinese opera.
