| This thesis considers, as the modernization progress of the west society, every social sphere experience the huge change,but the most shock is the collapse of traditional foundation by modernity, the new values can't satisfy the person. This article describe the authorial experience and reaction about the rootless modern society through secularization,daily and fragmentation. Secularization means the holy foundation of traditional society is doubted,people change their criteria from the holy thing to the secularistic thing, Dostoevsky's The Karamazov Brothers is its representative. Through describe Ivan's secularistic authority and Aloysha's secularistic moral, Dostoevsky express his ambivlence about the secularization. Secularization makes people more and more pay attention to our everyday life. Daily means the person feels the continuity and anomy of everyday life in modern society, so he try to seek the positive thing to search for his position in society.In Mann's The Magic Mountain, because of the disease, the person experience a unmixed lifeway and the person feels empty, bored and durative.But Mann agree the everyday life also have positive meaning in particular moment. Musil's The Man Without Qualities represent a mixed lifeway about the intertwinement of man and society,so Musil represent the feeling which the person is persecuted by everyday society. Fragmentation means things vary in a short time, which cause the variance of feelings.But the person want to search for a unitive essence for this variance of feelings.Proust reveals the variance of word and object through his Rememberance Of Things Past, in a same symbol, it is able to contain many different meaning, Proust search for the real meaning through his memory. Joyce's Ulysses reveals the variance of self,the self contain the noble thing and the despicable thing. The person should accept the real himself,it will makes him obtain the acceptance of himself in everyday life. |
