Verbs play very important role within sentence structure.Double object verbs are three-place predicate.Ditransitive construction is formed by three-place predicate, which can be divided into double object construction and dative construction. This paper focuses on Double Object Construction.This paper classifies English and Korean double object verbs with the structures and lexical semantic property.Then it contrasts double object construction between English and Korean, which provides evidence for explaining the reasons why double object verbs can form the corresponding constructions.Double object verbs in English and Korean have their meanings of "give". English double object verbs can be classified into three types, while Korean double object verbs can also be classified into three types by means of Goldberg's classification & Wang yin's classification. Double object construction marked"NP1 VNP2NP3"in English and "NP1 NP2 (?)/(?) NP3(?)V" in Korean.This paper makes a definition for double object construction with Goldberg's Construction Grammar and analyzes the syntactic features of Double Object construction on Transformation Generative Grammar. It also analyses semantic featues and Theta roles in Double Object construction.Aferwards, it deals with active-passive transformation of Double Object construction in English and Korean. English & Korean double object verbs have the meaning of Cause to TRANSFER and Possess relation between indirect object (IO) and direct object (DO)This paper makes a contrastive study of the similarities and differences in English and Korean Double Object construction and explains the reasons why Double Object construction is formed. This paper concludes that typological features of SVO/SOV & scrambling, verbs'meaning of'give'and construction meaning are the ternary key reasons on contrastive study of English and Korean Double Object construction.
