The Study Of "Guo Feng" And Central Plains Regional Culture

The Book of Poetry is regarded as an encyclopedia of Zhou Dynasty social life and cultural. Especially "Guo Feng", whose reflect the local culture, are considered as one of the most credible text to study the regional culture in that era. This thesis will study on Central plains regional culture of the spring and autume period through "Guo Feng". It can be totally divided into four chapters.The first chapter is the definition of Central plains regional culture and the pandect of the basis of Central plains regional culture. First of all, define the regional culture and divide the regional culture layout of "Guo Feng". At the same time, define the scope of Central plains regional culture through discussing the name and change of Central plains. Finally, analyse the natural and social formative factors of Central plains regional culture in the Spring and Autumn Period.The second chapter is a castback of Central plains regional culture origins. There are many cultural differences in Central plains regional culture, so the first step is to divide five Cultural areas of Central plains regional culture through analyzing the microcosm of culture—cities (especially capitals). On this basis, discuss the origins of Central plains regional culture——"Xianzhou culture", "Zongzhou culture", "South Chu Culture" and analyze their different characteristics.The third chapter is a detail of Central plains regional culture custom combined with "Guo Feng". This is the largest part of this thesis. We will reveal unique regional culture through discussing customs of Central plains. At the beginning, religious customs. They include three aspects:characteristics of religious customs; totemisms and phallicisms; male and female witch and their activities. Next, an analysis of love and marriage customs. They also include three aspects:the characteristics and backgrounds of love and marriage customs; marriage patterns; mate-selecting standards and Wedding Processes. Last but not the last, other social customs. They include the holiday customs, dress customs, living and travel customs and so on. When discussing religious customs, we will pay particular attention to combining with the theory and examples. We hope to use poetries to prove customs and use customs to prove poetries. So we could understand the hidden regional culture behind poetries. The fourth chapter is an overview influences of Central plains regional culture, particularly on the impact of "Guo Feng". As is known to all, literature and culture is a kind of interactive relationship. Literature reflects the culture and cultural impacts the literature. This chapter is a whole observation between regional culture and poetry texts. On the one hand, analyse the regional culture influence on the aesthetic features of "Guo Feng". On the other hand, research the regional culture influence on the arts features of "Guo Feng". We wish that we can reflect the interaction between culture and literature. To sum up, We strive to form a comprehensive and systematic understanding of Central plains regional culture through this thesis.
