Study On Xu Gu

Xu Gu is a great master of Shanghai drawing style of late Qing Dynasty, This essay's main research focal point is the drawing technical skill and aesthetics of Xu Gu's. Xu Gu lived in Chinese Westernization Movement period, follow that to have produced Shanghai drawing style, Xu Gu is praised as one of the "three heroes of Shanghai",the paintings is not only inherited Chinese traditions, but also send new intention of spirit of pen and ink with times and painting style.The thesis priority including two aspects, one of which is to analyze Xu Gu's drawing creation spirit and thought of aesthetic judgment. In the aspect of creation spirit, show out the succession of teachings from a master to his disciples embodying "with Tang Song dynasty ", meanwhile also the fusion of "western concept and Chinese elements ". In drawing colour aspect adopt western watercolour behaviour way to enrich the Chinese tradition drawing colouration form. In thought of aesthetic judgment aspect, Buddhist boundary and modern aesthetics "the boundary aesthetic ideology of there being no me" embodying the Chinese tradition monk and the man of letters in appreciation of the beauty thought aspect. This thesis is based on "six rules" theory of Xie He, make effort to carry out image demonstration analysis on each painting by the fact that "the image learns to wait for method ",pen and ink spirit coming to announce to Xu Gu's drawing. Absorb a brightened dot in analysis and induction drawing from Xu Gu, valuable experience summing up out the paiting circle who draws to future generations Shanghai style.
