This thesis aims at clarifying the conception of the conceptual photography and photography's concept, and the relation and interaction between them. The thesis firstly analyses the relation between the concept and art. The relation and interaction between concept and photography are expounded by analyzing the origins and characteristics of some important styles in the photography's development history. On the basis of generalizing the conception of conceptual photography, the thesis then summarizes the development of China's conceptual photography under the influence of postmodernism since 1990s, and further states the issues existed in the emergence and development of China's conceptual photography. Finally, the main expression forms of China's conceptual photography and the influence produced by digital technology are expounded and analyzed. The thesis consists of five parts: the first part mainly sorts through the relation between concept and art, the relation and interaction between concept and photography are expounded by analyzing the origins and characteristics of some important styles in the photography's development history; the second part explores the source of conceptual photography's emergence and development and makes clear the conception of conceptual photography defined by academic circles at home and abroad; the third part is putting emphasis on analyzing the development and exiting problems of conceptual photography in China which has been influenced by western postmodernism since 1990s, and also generalizing and reducing the main expression forms of China's conceptual photography and the influence on conceptual photography produced by digital technology; the last part is the conclusion.
