| J.M.Coetezee is one of the most influential writers in the world.,The novels of Coetzee were awarded The Nobel Prize in Literature because of the "delicate structure, meaningful dialog and profound consideration" in 2003, He used to be the one who won the contemporary English fiction prize---The Man Booker Prize, and last year his latest autobiography《Summer Time》had also won the Booker Prize's nomination. A lot of award items acquisition, his life experience and No two works by the same creative approach let he became the hot spot of both international and domestic scholars' research. This thesis based on researches for Coetzee and his work carried by many international and domestic scholars, according to the ecological criticism, the theory of ecological colonialism culture and the eco-feminism, analyzed the ecological viewpoints in Coetzee Novels, also attempted to discover the method of Coetzee's novels the conflict of nature, race and sex through an eco-critical perspective.The preface of this thesis briefly introduced Coetzee's life and his creation both national and international research current situation.The main text is divided into three parts. The first part elaborated ecological criticism and the theory related to this article, that is, the whole ecological culture concept, which was exactly reflected by Coetzee's novel, "The humanity is not the centre of the world. In the nature, regardless of humanity, animals or vulnerable women or race, all should share a common treatment."The second part analyzed Coetzee's original source of ecological thoughts through the early experience of his childhood and his status as a colonist. With the unusual compassion towards the weak trend, he embarked on confrontation unfair treatments.The third part discussed worries and concerns about ecology in Coetzee's novels, arranging in three separate aspects. First, humanity's self-centeredness and this behavior's can do harm to environment and animals; Second, consideration for the rights of animals; Third, silent objection from the weak, including women losing their voices and the powerless ones being colonized.The conclusion part summarized the preceding content and obtained Coetzee's ecological thinking, which is, from deep sympathy for the vulnerable groups, appeal to the overall ecological balance. |
