As a part of the whole national social education system, Erhu social education is a kind of new mode which gradually originated since 90s of 20th century from people's spontaneous needs for music education. As the school music education has been unable to meet people's learning needs, Erhu social education is an effective supplement for the shortage of school music education. In the traditional education sense, Erhu music education is mainly through the dissemination of traditional music and cultural knowledge and practical skills to enhance the students'basic Erhu ability. Erhu opens a door of art for students, then this will be a help to the Traditional Erhu playing technique, and a help to the cultural heritage and continuous development. At this stage in china, Erhu education is mainly realized through the followed two channels. The first is the social Erhu education for the general massive public. The second is the professional Erhu education system accessible for professional musicians. Erhu social education makes great contribution in improving the people's arts and cultural training as well as the dissemination of traditional music culture. However, it's non-mandatory, spontaneous mode of survival and development still hides many problems, which should be considered more.This thesis conducts social surveys and interviews with some of the educated people and some profession university teachers in Henan Province. Based on the analysis of previous studies, this paper, through questionnaire survey and interviews records, analyzes comprehensively and objectively the principal parts of Erhu social education, the current situation of Erhu educated people and their studies and cognitions. By deep contrast and research of using statistics and music field experiments and by extracting valid data, the status quo and causes of Erhu social education are clearly described and manifested. The data and results of surveys are authentic and objective, which reveals hidden problems of Erhu social education nowadays, and then makes corresponding analysis and proposes some constructive ideas. All these situations are somewhat of typicality in china and can help us to grasp the current status of social education and also can provide more comprehensive, accurate and factual basis.
